What is terbinafine topical?
Terbinafine is an antifungal medication.
Terbinafine is indicated as a primary agent in the topical treatment of tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, tinea versicolor.
Topical Dosage Forms
Tinea corporis, Tinea cruris: Topical, to the skin and surrounding areas, once a day for one week. Treatment should be continued for at least one week even though symptoms of the disease may have improved.
Tinea pedis, Tinea versicolor: Topical, to the skin and surrounding areas, two times a day for one week. Treatment should be continued for at least one week even though symptoms of the disease may have improved.
Terbinafine topical side effects
Burning, dryness, or itching at the application site may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Terbinafine topical Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Warnings
FDA Pregnancy Category B. Adequate and well-controlled studies in humans have not been done.
It is not known whether terbinafine is distributed into breast milk after topical administration. Breastfeeding women should avoid applying topical terbinafine to the breasts. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Precautions while using Terbinafine topical
- To clear up your infection completely, use terbinafine topical for the full course of treatment. Keep using it even if you notice improvement in a few days.
- Terbinafine topical is for external use only. Do not get it in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If you get it in any of these areas, rinse right away with cool water.

- Keep terbinafine topical out of the reach and sight of children.
- Store terbinafine topical at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
